THE BASICS--SOME GENERAL RULES

 

YOUR LAB REPORT SHOULD CONTAIN:

 

A clear, brief statement of the purpose of the experiment

Simple and direct language

An accurate and clear statement of the way the experiment was done

A list of all the materials used in the experiment

Carefully labeled diagrams, graphs, and charts

Definitions of all the technical terms and difficult concepts involved

A summary of the results and findings

 

YOUR LAB REPORT SHOULD AVOID:

 

Obscure and confusing language, difficult and undefined terms and concepts

Clumsy, hard-to-read sentences

Unnecessary digressions into areas not directly related to the experiment

Inadequate background for understanding new concepts
