ROCKS |
There are three types of rocks: IGNEOUS, SEDIMENTARY and METAMORPHIC. |
IGNEOUS ROCKS - Igneous rocks are made of crystallized and solidified from lava (molten material cooled outside on the Earth's surface) and solidification of magma (molten material cooled at depth and underneath the Earth's surface). |
SEDIMENTARY ROCKS - Sedimentary rocks are made of clasts (pieces) of other rocks that were dewatered, compacted and cemented together. Other sedimentary rocks are made of remnants of plants/animals and also by the precipitation of chemicals that saturated water bodies. |
METAMORPHIC ROCKS - Metamorphic are rocks (igneous or sedimentary) that have been changed due to heat and pressure. |
In igneous and metamorphic rocks, the grains (crystals) are fused/welded together. In sedimentary rocks the grains are cemented/glued together by a natural glue. | ||||||

RROCK CYCLE |
The rocks cycle is a set of crustal processes that forms new rocks (IGNEOUS), modifies rocks (METAMORPHIC), breaks and transports rocks (SEDIMENTARY). |
