THE TREASURE TRAIL....

THE NEXT WAY TO GO

"The 'Telling Spot' must be the place we just located - the spot where the 3rd 300 meter contour crosses our path as we head towards Leo's Tooth from the Cove! But what on earth is the Only Needle?!"

"Good Q, Lou! There's only one needle, and that one's magnetic! The compass needle! So what ever direction it points in is 'false'! So we want the 'false' east - which I guess is perpendicular to the 'false' north!!"

"So let's figure out:
  1. The compass quadrant bearing for Magnetic North - which is the 'false north'!
  2. The compass quadrant bearing for the 'false east' - which must be perpendicular to the 'false north'!"

INSTRUCTIONS: Where you are asked to enter a number, only enter numerals; do not enter any letters or other symbols. Where you are asked to enter N, S, E or W, only enter capital letters.

"So what's 'as many leagues as miles to leagues' mean?!"

"Figure out how many miles to a league - and that's how many leagues!!"

The number of miles in a league is?: ...Correct? ...

"So, Lou, where do we end up?! Where is the treasure??!!"
