THE POSITION PANEL
DIFFERENT VIEWS ON GLOBAL WARMING

INTRODUCTION:
The Position Panel will enable you to look at the views of eight organizations that span a range of different views on the Hypothesis of Anthropogenic Global Warming. From careful examination of these views, you will be asked to:
  • Determine their answers to each of the four questions posed in the "Four Questions Box".
  • Determine the position of each organization regarding the hypothesis: 'for', 'neutral', or 'against'.
  • Determine the degree of consensus amongst the organizations on answers to each of the four questions.
  • Determine the degree to which there is consensus amongst the organizations to answers to all the four questions.
  • Determine the direction towards which future research should be directed.

PROCEDURE:
1. To start, click on the green button to see a sample analysis of an imaginary environmental organization, "Earthgreen Forever".

2. Click on the blue button and go to the Position Panel Worksheets Menu. Print out the Instructions, Score Sheet, and Position Index and Consensus Index Tables.

3. Click on the red buttons below to learn about eight organizations and what their responses are to the four global warming questions.

4. Fill out the printed Worksheets to record your decisions as to each organization's answers to the questions, the degree of consensus amongst the organizations, and the position of each organization on the Hypothesis of Anthropogenic Global warming.
