October 16 |
Wilsonianism and Latin
America |
|
President Woodrow Wilson. This
complex and contradictory chief executive offered some of the most
idealistic (Pan-American Pact, Mobile speech) and some of the most
militaristic (Haitian and Dominican occupations) initiatives in the
history of inter-American relations. |
As we gear up for the midterm,
today's class will explore inter-American relations beyond the Mexican
Revolution during Wilson's presidency. We'll be trying to piece
together the President's agenda, as well as to understand the rationale
behind his frequent use of force in the region. |
COURSE PACKET:
Katz, Secret War in Mexico, finish up
selection.
