TABLE OF CONTENTS
The Margaret E. Sangster, Jr. Collection was given to the Brooklyn College Library Archives and Special Collections by the Radio and Television Department. Margaret Elizabeth Sangster, Jr. (1894-1981) was a journalist, novelist, editor, poet, short story fiction writer, and radio and television scriptwriter.
These papers consist primarily of Ms Sangster's radio and television scripts for soap serials dating from the 1940s,1950s through 1960. There are also several boxes of short fiction stories Ms Sangster had published in different ladies' magazines and newspapers as well as a number of poems that were published in young adult magazines.
Although there is
little information about Ms Sangster personally, there is mention of her
prominent grandmother, Margaret Elizabeth (Munson) Sangster, Sr., an inspirational
writer, poet, and editor in the Victorian era, a woman who made a significant
and lasting impression on her granddaughter. The younger Ms Sangster
did indeed follow in her famous grandmother's footsteps by becoming a prolific
and prodigious writer of poetry, novels, and short stories.
