GRAMMATICAL POINT

Third conjugation verbs are divided in two separate groups. They all share the same endings, however, some verbs insert an additional cluster 'isc' before the endings in some of the tenses and persons.
PARTIRE and FINIRE are thus conjugated according to different patterns.

FORMATION OF COMPOUND TENSES Compound Tenses are formed by the conjugated forms of the Auxiliary Verbs Essere or Avere plus the past participle of the verb. Transitive verbs take the auxiliary verb AVERE. Intransitive verbs take the auxiliary verb ESSERE.
