DISCUSS SON OF ITALY  USING THE ASSIGNMENT - QUIZ

GRAMMAR CAPSULE

WOULD OF     instead of  WOULD HAVE

COULD OF                          COULD HAVE

SHOULD OF                        SHOULD HAVE

ITS IT’S

" The tornado hit the town. ITS fury destroyed many houses."   not  ****** IT'S
" The government and its citizens...."
" New fighter plane. Its range is 5000 miles."

THERE      THEIR     THEY'RE

TWO TO TOO   (I often find   TO instead of TOO)

ABOUT YOU (informal structure)

I liked that it is from his perspective, because as s child many times you don’t fully understand the gravity of your situation, but you make it work because its all you’ve ever known.

ASSIGNMENT FOR TODAY  - will return  later today (blackout and unstable internet connection yesterday)

Side note: On page 168, in the last paragraph, I found his last thought to be strongly connected with the beginning of Dante’s Divine Comedy. Pascal wrote: and sweeter yet was the happiness of my parents who realized that after all I had not really gone astray, but had sought and attained a goal from the deep worn groove of peasant drudgery.  Whereas the Divine Comedy starts with: Halfway along our journey to life’s end I found myself astray in a dark wood, Since the right way was nowhere to be found.”
