Book Renewal
Due to space constraints, circulating books must be paged from the Circulation desk in the Field Library. Search CUNY+ for the title(s) you need, fill out a paging request form(s)--available at CUNY+ terminals--for each title, then bring the form(s) to the Circulation desk. The requested titles will be brought to you at the desk. Titles you want to borrow are charged out from there as well. Books: Brooklyn College undergraduate and graduate students, staff, Library Associates, retired B.C. faculty, members of the Institute of Retired Professionals and Executives, and students and faculty from member institutions of Academic Libraries of Brooklyn may borrow books for one month. CUNY faculty may borrow books for two months. B.C. faculty may borrow books for four months. Others have a two week loan period. Periodicals: do not circulate. Faculty may inquire at the Current Periodicals/Reserves desk on the 4th Floor of Roosevelt Hall about exceptions. ACTIVATION AND CHARGING OUT BOOKS A Brooklyn College or CUNY identification card, validated for the current semester, must be presented in order to be activated and to charge out materials from the Library. NO REFERENCE, RESERVE, INTERLIBRARY LOAN, OR MUSIC MATERIALS MAY RENEWED WITH THESE METHODS. If the book you want is not on the shelf, go to the Circulation Desk and ask if the book is checked out to another borrower. If it is, you may request that the book be recalled or held for you when it is returned. PLEASE RETURN YOUR BOOKS ON TIME The due date is indicated in the back of each book. Fines are levied at the rate 10 cents per day, to a maximum of the current price of the item. Non-receipt of overdue notices does not exempt the borrower from overdue fees. A reader will be blocked from borrowing additional library materials when he or she has accumulated $5.00 in fines, has one or more overdue book(s), has been billed for a lost book or if a recalled item has not been returned. Brooklyn College students with outstanding fines or other obligations will not be able to register for their classes or to obtain transcripts. A similar failure on the part of borrowers not affiliated with Brooklyn College may result in the suspension or revocation of borrowing privileges. A reasonable time is allowed for Library staff to search for a book reported to be lost. Once a book is determined to be lost, the reader is then charged for the price of the book, and a $10.00 service fee. A refund, minus the $10.00 fee, is given if the book is later found. If you have any questions, please inquire a the Circulation Desk for assistance. COURTESY DISCHARGE AT CUNYRETURNSCUNY library patrons, students, faculty and staff may return CUNY library books to any CUNY library. Patrons no longer need to travel back to the lending library to return books. This policy applies only to standard loan materials. Special loan items such as reserve, interlibrary loan, etc., must be returned to the lending library. FINES In addition, you may pay library fines associated with the book(s) returned at all CUNY libraries. Note that local policies governing the payment of fines vary from library to library. Check with the staff at the Circulation Desk if you have any questions. RENEWALS Renewals can only be made by the lending library.
