Pros and Cons of the RPA System
RPA is a system that is more portable and easier to use than proxy. However,
RPA has the disadvantage of providing access to fewer resources. RPA is
a good choice for AOL members because they cannot configure their AOL
browser for the proxy. (Note: if AOL users install and run Netscape or
Internet Explorer, then proxy may work for them -- See instructions for
proxy setup Students
or Faculty
& Staff for how to configure the these browsers to
work with the proxy server.).
Using the RPA system
Once you have registered at the Field Library's Circulation desk to check
out books, you can use your library barcode to get to RPA resources from off-campus.
If you have trouble, talk to staff at the Circulation desk.
