Finding Materials in Other Libraries

You can search the library catalogs of other libraries to find out what they have.

  • You have free access to and borrowing priveledges at all CUNY libraries, as well as New York City Public Library
  • For most NYC academic libraries we can provide you with a pass (no borrowing!), provided the item you want is not available at Brooklyn College Library or the New York Public Library.
  • You may also choose to order materials through InterLibrary Loan, but be aware that this process can take a few weeks.

A reference librarian can help you to determine how best to access materials we don't own.

Remember: CUNY+ has records for all the CUNY campus libraries. Check here first!

New York City Libraries Open to the Public

NYC Area Academic Libraries - Access Restricted, please ask for assistance at Reference.

There is also a comprehesive list to Online Library Catalogs in the New York Metro Area maintained by librarians at Manhattan College Libraries.

Finally, WorldCat is a union catalog of thousands of library catalogs, including all the ones listed above. Use of the WorldCat database is restricted to users who are on a CUNY Campus, or who choose to use RPA or Proxy for Students or Proxy for Faculty.
