COURSE INFORMATION

This course is in HYBRID FORMAT.
We will meet once a week, on WED. The rest of the course work will take place online at your own pace.
No textbook required. All my materials are available online.
Expect two assignments per week. Meet all deadlines for homework and other tasks.
All homework will be posted on this homepage. Lesson plans and in-class work will also be posted here.
Weekly quizzes, approx. 10 minutes, will be based exclusively on homework assignments.
Come to class prepared to participate.

THIS MEANS THAT YOU MUST HAVE GOOD SELF-DISCIPLINE AND HIGH MOTIVATION

In class I will explain and practice with you the rules of Italian with a focus on communication.
Grammar is introduced to the extent that it is necessary to guide and enable communication.
Classtime will primarily be devoted to practicing oral skills.

BY THE END OF THE SEMESTER you will be able to engage in simple communication about very familiar topics (yourself, your family, your immediate environment and activities: where you live, what you do, school, work, entertainment etc.) You will also be able to write correctly simple basic sentences and questions.

From a gramamar-communicative standpoint, the main goal will be to master the use of PRESENT TENSE in three conjugations, and basic irregular verbs.

COURSE TECHICAL requirements EMAIL POLICY I expect everyone to have a proper email address BEFORE we begin. 1) Click THIS LINK and read the email policy. 2) Follow the instructions and send a message from your professional email address to the course EMAIL ADDRESS (see above.) italian1.summer16@oggi-domani.com USE ONLY THIS EMAIL FOR ALL COMMUNICATIONS. Send a 10-15 second video (selfie style) stating: your name (speak slowly); if you are a BC native or transfer student; your semester in college (upper junior, lower senior etc.); your major. Name the file with your last name. The sooner the better (it's a requirement.) DO NOT USE .MOV format (mp4 m4v m4p are OK) ALL your files must be sent directly as attachments. Do not use archives such as google drive or dropbox. Selfie videos. Keep your phone horizontal when you record. Find a VIDEO FORMAT CONVERTER: convert the format from MOV to M4P or M4V. The FILE NAME of your selfie must be your last name. Don't know how to do it? There is a youtube for that too. Remember: whatever you don't know how to do, there is always a youtube for it. A video selfie is a requirement. Every email msg must have the appropriate email address, opening salutation, a brief msg and A SIGNATURE. I will delete msg that do not comply. If you don't know what I am talking about, you haven't read the preliminary requirements.
