1. Click on edit on the command line (at the top of the browser window) 2. Click on preferences from the pull-down menu |
3. Double-click on
Advanced from the menu, and then hightlight Proxies
4. Click in the circle to the left of Manual proxy configuration in the dialog box so that a black dot appears in the circle. 5. Click the View... button |
6. In the Manual Proxy Configuration dialog box
type remote.brooklyn.cuny.edu into the address area and
80 into the port area |
TIP: Turn off the proxy when you're not
using it for faster connection speeds to free Internet resources

Browsing with the Proxy Turned On

Notice:Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator handle your Web searching
differently once you have configured your browser to recognize a proxy
server. Both will present a proxy identification box at
some point in your Web browsing. Remember: your proxy identification information
is your User Name(ID) and password from your Brooklyn College student Email
account.
A proxy identification box requires that you:

You will then be able to access the resources that Brooklyn College licenses on the Web and any other free Web sites.
Netscape will ask for identification information when you request
a URL for a licensed resource. Be sure to type in your user name (with
appropriate capitalization) with BCACAD\ in front of it: BCACAD\MyUserName.
You should not be asked for this information again, as long as you
do not exit the browser. |
Explorer will ask for identification as soon as you turn on your
