WebCore's Mission

The WebCore project began in Fall 1996 with faculty participation from nearly all 13 courses in the Core curriculum. WebCore's goals are to enrich our courses with material and activities available through the Internet (including use of the World Wide Web and E-mail) and to further develop connections and links between core courses. We have regular presentations and discussions to share ideas and technical expertise. WebCore is supported by Academic Computing.

This fall, as WebCore enters its third year, the interest among faculty in using the internet for teaching continues to grow, and as it grows it expands in different directions. This semester, we hope to meet the increasingly wide range of needs of the members of WebCore faculty by providing instruction and workshops on topics and at levels that are useful to each participant.

To that end, we will organize some sessions on broad, overview topics that are of interest to the group as a whole, such as integrating multimedia applications, enhancing web interactivity, and discussing pedagogical innovations and concerns. Other sessions will be organized around the interests of particular subgroups.  These working groups might work together on using scientific applications, learning html, playing with advanced design. (Of course, all sessions are open to everyone.)
