Reference Room Collection

The research materials found in the reference room range from specialized dictionaries and encyclopedias that will help you find specific factual information to indexes and bibliographies that will lead you to other sources of information. Indexes and abstracts, both in printed and electronic formats, provide extensive access to periodical articles on a wide range of subjects by author, title, or subject. A listing of the indexes and abstracts available in the reference room is at the Information Services reference desk.

Information Services Reference Desk

The reference desk is staffed by reference librarians who can provide invaluable assistance in using the Library's resources and can help you select and locate materials for reports, speeches, and term papers. There is always a librarian on duty during all hours that the Library is open. Clerical staff or student aids frequently assist the librarian during peak periods and in the evening. Most of the time, the librarian will be able to satisfy your research needs. If he or she is unable to provide the assistance you need, you may be advised to make an appointment with one of the Library's subject specialists.
